Calci

Calci with its 5800 inhabitants is situated on the border with the town of San Giuliano Terme (Distance 6 km) in the valley at the foot of the Pisan Mountains called Val Graziosa for its lovely landscape.

In the centre of the town it is very interesting to visit the church dedicated to St. John the Evangelist and Ermolao of the twelfth century, a fine example of Romanesque style. It has a structure with three naves and a bell tower which unfortunately is unfinished on which you can see the Jupiter Ammone.

The Carthusian monastery, founded in 1366 is very important. The Monastery is now a set of buildings that were added to over the centuries. The oldest one is the original wall.

Open every day except Monday.
